The video game designed by a young man of 24, draws its substance and form from the cultural riches of Niger. Coveryni Issa Mahaman’s ambition is to make it an animated film in the medium term.

Niger has its first video game, designed in Niger and by a Nigerien. “Les Héros du Sahel”, named after this invention is made to adapt to android phones, computers and the Nintendo Wii.

Coqueyni Issa Mahaman, the young man of 24 who designed it through his agency MOGMedia Design ensures that the making of the game did not require any financial means. Only six months of his time.

As a result, since August 26, 2016, the demonstrative version is accessible free of charge from the Facebook account of his agency MOGMedia Design. The final version of the game became available in 2017.

“Les Héros du Sahel”, traces the four-stage journey of the main character, Shamsou – a national hero – who uses solar energy to fight bad guys. A reflection that could well stick to the realities of Niger, this hot West African country where solar energy appears as a great alternative to electricity problems.

The hero travels in particular through Nigerien countries which bear both the Hausa and Zarma names, armed with his shield in the shape of the Tahoua cross, a piece of jewelry worn mainly by the inhabitants of the city of Tahoua to identify themselves. The music, as well as the character’s outfit – in national colors – are, so to speak, a beautiful dedication to Nigerien culture.

The game originates from the comic strip “Shamsou, the Sun Warrior”, also produced by Housseyni Issa Mahaman. After comics and today video games, he aims to adapt his idea into an animated film.

Behind all these initiatives, encourage the Nigerien market to consume local products
