I didn’t believe it first of all when I got the call-up but I’m very, very happy and very excited. I have no clue how it came about, they (the Sierra Leone Football Association) just sent an email out of the blue – I didn’t know anything about it and I was as surprised and delighted as my family was! It’s definitely a good experience but now I need to work hard, try to get in the team and just keep doing my best. Because it’s my first call-up, I feel like I’ve got the most to prove. I have to do everything right – I’ve got to train and play well, do the right things off the pitch, recover properly… I’ve got to make an impression and show that I’m there for the next call-up if that comes – Kallum Sesay speaking to Tottenham Hotspurs on his call up to play for Sierra Leone

Kallum Sesay is one of the most versatile young defenders of our time. His ability and effectiveness to adapt to any playing position is admirable. The young defender is effective at both ends of the pitch and can create chances in the opposition box. His drive to score a goal, as a defender, is rare to see. He loves scoring goals, that is something you are less likely to see in a defender. He does not only score goals and delivers assists, but he is also a very intelligent defender whose defending techniques have caught the eyes of football-loving fans. He is tall with a great amount of pace, his crosses to the opposition box are poisonous, his clearances are life-saving, he is strong in the challenge and not afraid to make sliding challenges, he is difficult to get past and can give opposition wingers difficult games, his runs are Mbaperous (A new word, though. lol) – he can stop and win a play and can score, he is the Sierra Leone Roberto Carlos.
