The Afrik Impact Festival aims to celebrate the impact of African Immigrants in the state of Colorado and to honour the accomplishments and achievements of African Immigrants in the United States of America.

The United States of America is home to millions of African Immigrants and persons of Africa origin. The transatlantic slave trade saw hundreds of thousands of Africans shipped, with chains on their necks, to the United States to work on plantations, which undeniably gave the United States a place in the world’s strongest economies. The impact of Africans and persons of Africa origin in the United States cannot be underestimated. In sports, entertainment, science, education, technology, and health; Africans and persons of Africa origin have contributed immensely to the aforementioned sectors.

According to Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, in 2016, 4.2 million African immigrants were living in the United States. According to studies, 40 per cent of African immigrants have at least a bachelor’s degree—making them 30 per cent more likely to achieve that level of education than the U.S. population overall. Of this group, about one in three, or 33.4
per cent, have STEM degrees, training heavily in demand by today’s employers. In 2015, African immigrants earned $55.1B; $4.7B  went to state and local taxes;
$10.1B  went to federal taxes; $40.3B
in remaining spending power. The impact is great!

In lieu of that, one man, Papa Dia is changing the narrative by celebrating the impact of African Immigrants in the United States of America and advocating to improve the quality of life of the African communities in the United States. He is the founder of African Leadership Group, a US-based organization that primarily focuses on adding value to the lives of African Immigrants through social, economic, and education empowerment. Papa Dia is the Founder and President of the African Leadership Group. A native of Senegal, Papa immigrated to Denver, United States in 1998. He used his first job, stocking books, to teach himself how to read, write, and speak English. Beginning with an entry-level position in a local bank, over the next 17 years, Papa ultimately climbed the ranks to become a regional vice president. In 2017, Papa left his banking career to focus his full attention on running and growing the African Leadership Group.

To support the African communities in the United States, Papa Dia, courtesy of his parent organization African Leadership Group, under the name Afrik Impact celebrate the impact of African Immigrants in the US state of Colorado. This very vital and much-needed event happens every year during August.
