Ex-President Alpha Conde Travels Again For Medical Attention

The now-deposed President Alpha Condé has been granted a new stay abroad to tend to medical treatment and welfare. The spokesperson for the National Committee of Reconciliation and Development (CNRD), the military junta overseeing governance in the country, did not give the exact details on the destination of the 84-year-old ex-president. However, local news reports suggest he had flown out of Guinea onboard a Turkish plane on Saturday.

Alpha Condé was granted a new stay abroad to seek medical treatment.

The transitional authorities revealed on Friday referencing appointments the ousted leader had to keep. They were to take place out of the West African nation.

The news of Condé’s departure comes just over a month following his return to Guinea.

The CNRD spokesperson did not give any additional information on his destination or details on how long Conde’s stay will last. The best piece of information is that he flew out of Guinea onboard a Turkish plane.

In the early period of this month, Conakry’s public prosecutor opened a judicial investigation into Condé and 30 former top officials for murder, torture, and looting amongst other charges.

The former leader was then overthrown on September 5, 2021, by Colonel Doumbouya.

After his return in April, Alpha Condé was declared ” free” of his movements but he has not been seen in public since.
