Jagaban Invests Le 500 Million in Baptist School, Provides Free Lunch and Computers

Politics is about service, compassion, and leadership. Yesterday, Baptist School witnessed one of those moments.

Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, returned to the school not with rhetoric, but with action. Many weeks ago, he was approached by a troubled schoolteacher who briefed him about the school’s challenges to quality learning. Baptist School needed desperate intervention. Jagaban assured them of his intervention and relief.

As fate would have it, Jagaban delivered on his promises yesterday when he invested Le 500 million into the school. He additionally provided free lunch for every pupil and donated ten brand-new computers to support teaching and learning from Nursery 1 to JSS 3.

The day began with joy, smiles, and assurances of a brighter future. Every worker of Baptist School was satisfied and astonished. Voices echoed hope and gratitude. Symbolically, it was a reminder of why education matters to Jagaban — not just as policy, but as lived experience.

The elated JSS Principal, Mrs. Naure Fewry, described the visit as a meaningful surprise. She noted that Jagaban did not merely listen — he remembered, returned, and responded.

The funds donated will be used transparently to transform the school’s learning environment. More planned improvements include new desks and chairs for all pupils, whiteboards in classrooms, dignified toilet facilities, and the renovation of the principal’s offices into modern, functional spaces.

Perhaps the major highlight of the entire activity came during Jagaban’s emotional and inspiring remarks. He spoke not as a politician, but as someone deeply connected to service and purpose. “Today, we are here to share lunch together because this is what gives me satisfaction. Uplifting lives is in my DNA. This school will always be in my heart.”

Delivering the vote of thanks, Mrs. Isha Kargbo, Head Teacher for Classes 4–6, spoke not from a script, but with deep conviction. “Since I was born, I have never seen a politician like you,” she said. “You have shown religious tolerance, love, and genuine care. Even though this is a Christian school, you have supported us wholeheartedly. From this day, you are a full member of this school.”

In a country where education systems struggle and politicians make bogus promises, yesterday’s moment stood out. Jagaban has introduced a rare breed of leadership that will be remembered for decades — leadership that sat with children, shared a meal, and invested in their future.
