Meet Oluwaseyi Adewumi: The Nigerian Woman Who Breaks 59-Year-Old Record at UNILAG, Bagged 11 Scholarships and Awards

A young Nigerian woman identified as Oluwaseyi Adewumi, graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a bachelor’s degree, breaking a record of 59 years in the process.

Adewumi, a first-class graduate from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, also revealed that she has won 11 scholarships and awards and landed a job in the United States. Celebrating her academic achievement on her LinkedIn page, the young woman announced that she broke a 59-year-old record at the institute after finishing with a CGPA of 4.84.

She went further by revealing that she became the first student to finish as the top graduate student in civil and environmental engineering and overall the top student in the entire engineering faculty. Highlighting his academic achievements, Oluwaseyi said he obtained 11 scholarships and awards.

Breaking a 59-year record as I emerged as the First Female to graduate as both the Best Graduating Student in Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Overall Best Female in the entire Faculty of Engineering from my department at the University of Lagos remains the humbling moment of my convocation from the University of Lagos. indeed, God has been undeniably good to me as I was able to achieve the following between 2015 – 2021 of my undergraduate studies: My sincere gratitude goes out to EVERYONE I met during my 6-year journey. Despite the several hurdles, God strengthened me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep pushing and don’t stop trusting God.“
