“Nigerians are the smartest people on the planet” – Akon

Popular Senegalese star and one of the greatest African musicians, Akon in an interview described Nigerians as “the smartest people on the planet.”

The RnB star shared his early life story in the United States with the popular music podcast ‘Drinking Champs’. Akon talked about his journey to stardom and how he rose through the ranks of A-list artistes in America.

During the interview, Akon talked about the continent of Africa, and during the conversation, he called Nigerians the smartest people on the continent. According to Akon, Nigeria is similar to New York City and Nigerians are the smartest people on the planet.

This may be debatable but Nigerians are the smartest people on the planet…There’s nobody smarter than the Nigerian, Akon said.

The musician also made the point that, despite the fact that certain bad apples are abusing their intelligence, Nigerians as a whole are still quite intelligent.

Akon went on to say that his favourite dish is jollof rice and explained the differences between jollof rice from Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, and Liberia.

Akon acknowledged his role in bringing Afrobeats to other countries, saying he first met musicians from Nigeria in Lagos in 2007.

For the remix of their smash track “Chop My Money,” Akon notably teamed up with Nigerian megastar dup P-Square in 2012. Additionally, he worked with Wizkid, who he signed to his Konvict Music record company.
