Just after the World Bank pulled out technical and financial support for the ongoing Mid-Term Census, the World Bank Board has approved an International Development Association (IDA) grant of $75 million to “improve natural resources governance, enhance inclusiveness and promote sustainability of development financing.”
With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) donates 77 solar-powered refrigerators to the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation to “strengthen the cold chain system of the country’s Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) and reduce infant and under-five mortality rates in Sierra Leone.”
According to data by Statistics Sierra Leone, the cost of food in Sierra Leone increased 17.10 percent in June of 2021 over the same month in the previous year. In 2017, the average inflation rate in Sierra Leone amounted to about 18.22 percent compared to the previous year. This year it has reached the highest rate in ten years!
