BEACH SOCCER WORLD CUP – Senegal tames world champion and reaches quarter-finals

Heroic and combative, the Senegalese Lions overthrew the Portuguese world champions (5-3). A splendid success that opens the doors to the quarter-finals of the 2021 Russia Beach Soccer World Cup for African mushrooms.

Thanks to doubles from Raoul Mendy and Mandione Diagne, the Senegalese Lions have eaten up the Portuguese giant, the reigning world champion.

Yet the game had started badly for Ngalla Sylla's men who, like against Uruguay, conceded the score.
As often, Senegal has returned to its favorite scorer, Raoul Mendy. The latter despite the death of his mother on the eve of the match, equalized before slamming a magnificent double. He thus signs his 5th but in two days. A beautiful tribute to his late mother.

Uncompromising in defense, the solid Jean Nino Diatta sealed the fate of the match scoring the Lions' fifth goal in the last moments of the match and between
 Portuguese hopes.

With two successes in as many outings, the six-time African champion climbed to the quarter-finals and got closer to his major goal: the square of Aces. A level never reached by an African team.

While waiting to get there, the partners of Babacar Fall will complete the group stages with their face-to-face with Oman. A meeting scheduled for next Tuesday at 12 p.m. GMT.

Historic victory for Mozambique

Participating in the first Beach Soccer World Cup in its history, Mozambique have recovered from their first day loss. Indeed, the Mambas have achieved unprecedented success by disposing of the United Arab Emirates (4-2) this Saturday on the occasion of the second day of group D. A historic success which has met the Mambas on the right track.

Thus, everything will be played on the 3rd and last day. Mozambique will seek qualification against Tahiti on Monday at 12 p.m. GMT.
