Fene Osakwe started from a humble beginning. He started his career as a fresh school graduate who steered his way across three successful multi-billion companies and reached the level of Director in less than ten years of career and business building. As a Cybersecurity and Technology expert whose expertise has been utilized by not only tech companies but also Governments, Fene has provided technology advisory to businesses and universities across the globe.
Behind this mountain of success, there’s a story. Every success story came from a humble beginning bonded with turbulence, countless rejections, and a couple of failures. Fene Osakwe began his journey to stardom with enormous challenges. Some time ago, he was begging on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, and most times got robbed along the way as he had to walk for hours almost every day to get to his destinations. He got scammed for job interviews and received countless job rejections. Nigeria almost happened to him but he didn’t bow down to the hundreds of setbacks. He fought, bounced back several times, and kept pushing because he only had one goal and that was to be financially independent in his thirties – a dream he has managed to achieve.
As someone who had challenges chasing his dream and actualizing his goals, Fene Osakwe saw the need to give back to the continent of Africa through technology. He founded the Fene Osakwe Foundation to empower young Africans with in-demand tech skills and provide career mentoring. Through his Creditaid Services, a micro-lending company he founded for small and medium enterprises in Nigeria, Fene has been one of the young generation of leaders from Nigeria that’s helping small-scale businesses in Nigeria to prosper by providing them with access to funding and credit facilities at a single digit interest.

Since Fene has seen and been through it all, and in that process had made mistakes that have moulded him to become one of Africa’s brightest young minds in business and career mentoring, we could attest that he is someone who knows the way to financial liberty and how to become a successful career, businessman. As they say, “he who feels it, knows it.” Fene’s passion to lead young people in Africa to become great entrepreneurs and successful career businesspeople led him to author a book he titled ‘Climbing The Corporate Ladder With Speed’. He told The African Dream, “I decided to write the book that will teach the ‘how’ in very practical ways using examples. ‘How do I start looking for a job? How do I play office politics? How do I leverage relationships to my advantage? How did I go from obscurity to becoming a global speaker? How do I position myself for thought leadership in my industry?’ These are the things the book deals with.”
In his book, which is available on Amazon, principles out principle with practical application, and proven results rather than theories. His book teaches how to set career goals, what to do to accelerate your career from a college graduate, entry-level, middle management, and senior management, how and when to change your career path, how to deal with bad interviews or job loss and among many others, it talks about the steps to take to becoming an industry leader in your field and when you’ve gotten to the top, how to start planning for retirement into wealth and not a pension.

In his last words with The African Dream, Fene gives a piece of advice to young Africans who want to become global tech professionals, saying, “The world is waiting for us to shine. The sky is big enough to accommodate everyone. Don’t for a second think that “it is all done, where will I start from”. The best of everything is still in the future. So that dream? Start today.”
