JUST IN! President Julius Maada Bio sacks the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice

President Julius Maada Bio has sacked the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Anthony Brewah after a photo of the Attorney-General and popular herbalist Baimba Moiforay Alias LAC surfaced online. LAC received a controversial presidential pardon not too long ago.

The photo was published on social media, showing Anthony Brewah and the Minister of Information, Mohamed Rahman Rado-Swaray, in an eventful mood with Baimba Moiforay (LAC).

There was already a public outcry prior to the release of LAC, who was convicted of the murder of popular Sierra Leonean DJ Cleff. LAC was part of the people that received the New Year’s Presidential Pardon given by the president, but many Sierra Leoneans raised concerns over his release.

The President, Julius Maada Bio, has also instituted an investigation into the process leading to the granting of a pardon for LAC.

The president has appointed Mohamed Lamjn Tarawally to be the new Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. Before this appointment, he was the Solicitor-General, the Principal Assistant to the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, and the professional Head of the Law officers Department.

Mohamed Lamin Tarawally is the fourth Attorney-General and Minister of Justice to be appointed by President Bio in three years. Charles Margai, Priscilla Schwartz, and Anthony Brewah all served in that position.
