Popular Nollywood Actor Leo Mezie Is Dead

Known sometimes for his humble roles and unpredicting actions, Leo Mezie’s death is sure to shake the fans and the movie industry at large.

Leonard Chimezie Onyemachi is dead after years of battling kidney disease.

The 46-year-old Nollywood sensation reportedly died on Saturday after undergoing a kidney transplant operation.

He had his first kidney transplant over four years ago. After having another one last week, he began to develop after-effect complications which led to his death.

Chioma Elizabeth Toplis, a Nollywood actress confirmed Mezie’s death on her Instagram page on Monday.

Nollywood actress, Chioma Toplis, confirmed Leo Mezie’s death on her Instagram page on Monday. She announced that the actor had died Saturday in Abuja while recovering from a kidney transplant.

Toplis informed the public that his corpse had been moved to Umuahia, his hometown for burial.

Mezie was born on 25 January 1976. He started acting in 1996 when he joined the Nollywood film industry.

In 2003, he rose to instant stardom after acting in the Nollywood blockbuster ‘Labista’ alongside Emma Ehummadu, Jerry Williams, and Ernest Asuzu.

He had acted alongside actors and actresses, such as Jerry Amilo, Zack Orji, and Chidi Mokeme, among others.

Some of his movies are Total War, No Man’s Land, Heart of a Slave, Close Enemy, King’s Sleepless Night, and Empty Throne, among others.
