65 years old woman in Sierra Leone writes BECE exams

Old age is often seen as the period of final resolution in one’s life. However, Mama Margaret is more than ready to follow her personal ambitions even when they are unheard of.

Mama Margaret is one of the candidates currently sitting to this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Mama Margaret, who is currently 65 years old, is the oldest among candidates registered for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Sierra Leone.

As a grandmother residing in the Eastern part of the country’s capital with her family, Margaret has always wanted to venture into the corridors of the classroom.

Three years ago, the matriarch had participated in the National Primary School Examination where she achieved a very attractive performance.

Today, Margaret lines behind contemporaries young enough to be her sons and daughters and she doesn’t mind.

Her passion for education and the classroom has been a source of inspiration and motivation to those her age.

The oldest person to leave primary school was Kimani Maruge at the age of 84.
