BARCELONA – Ilaix Moriba chooses Guinea

That’s it! Ilaix Moriba turns his back on Spain and opts for Guinea Conakry. According to the AS newspaper which put this information on its front page, the Barcelona genius chose to wear the national Syli jersey after playing for the Spanish junior selections, in particular the U17s at the world cup.

Ilaix Moriba, who has been in the limelight at FC Barcelona due to his contractual situation, is also in the limelight due to his decision at the international level.

This Saturday the midfielder took the opposite path and has already informed the Federation of Guinea that he is making himself available“, wrote the AS newspaper.

According to the Spanish media, the 18-year-old midfielder does not seem to want to play for “Roja” in the future and choose to play for his homeland, Guinea Conakry. His father would have informed the coach of Syli National, Didier Six, after a meeting scheduled for Saturday.

It remains to be seen whether the Catalan could be added to the list unveiled by Six on Friday to face Guinea Bissau (September 1) then Morocco (September 6) in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Remember that Moriba is in bad shape at Barça. He claims a revaluation of his salary but the Catalan club opposed him to an end of inadmissibility. Thus, the 18-year-old midfielder was relegated to reserve because still refusing to extend his contract, which ends in July 2022.
