The Healey International Relief Foundation (HIRF) donated antibiotics and antipsychotic medicines to the National HIV/AIDS Control Program in Sierra Leone.
Dr. Gerald Young, Program Manager of the National AIDS Control Program, received the medicines on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, expressing his sincere appreciation for the donation and assuring that they would be utilized effectively for their intended purpose, benefiting those in need of medical care across Sierra Leone.
The donation ceremony, held at the NACP office, commenced with a statement from the in-country manager of HIRF Ishmeal Alfred Charles.
He highlighted the foundation’s longstanding commitment to strengthening healthcare in Sierra Leone, emphasizing their annual provision of essential medicines, medical supplies, servicing of bio-medical equipment, support for capacity building through training programs, and disaster recovery initiatives.
With over twenty-four years of operation in Sierra Leone, HIRF has been a steadfast partner in healthcare development and emergency relief efforts.
During the ceremony, Dr. Isaac Ahemesah, UNAIDS Country Representative, expressed profound gratitude for the support extended by HIRF.
He recalled the initial communication from Josephine Garnem, the Executive Director of HIRF, which paved the way for this significant donation valued at $265,159 and acknowledged the vital role donations serve in advancing healthcare services and combating health challenges in Sierra Leone.
HIRF also acknowledges MAP International, a key partner, through whom these medicines were made possible.
The donation from HIRF serves as a testament to the foundation’s unwavering commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives and improving the well-being of communities in Sierra Leone.
