Meet Abu Bakarr Jalloh: Sierra Leonean Writer, Blogger, and Founder of The African Dream

Abu Bakarr Jalloh is a Sierra Leonean writer, blogger, freelance journalist, YouTuber, and content creator.

As the CEO and founder of The African Dream, he has built a leading online media platform that tells inspiring African stories and celebrates the continent’s change-makers. His work has solidified him as a key figure in the field of African digital storytelling.

Abu Bakarr Jalloh began his career in 2018 as a writer for Salone Messenger, where he began documenting the transformative stories of African leaders and innovators. His passion for telling authentic and uplifting African stories led to the creation of The African Dream, which continues to amplify African voices, focusing on both grassroots and global change-makers.

In 2024, Abu Bakarr Jalloh was honored with the Vickie Remoe Prize for Journalism and New Media in the Content Creation category, recognizing his excellence, creativity, and originality in digital journalism. The Vickie Remoe Prize was founded by the renowned Sierra Leonean entrepreneur and media consultant, Vickie Remoe, to acknowledge the best emerging journalists and new media content creators in Sierra Leone.

Despite his academic background in Agricultural Economics (B.Sc. from Njala University), Abu Bakarr’s true calling lies in media and storytelling. He launched The African Dream with just a Techno Spark 5 smartphone, driven by his vision to bring positive, impactful African stories to a global audience. Since its inception, the platform has published thousands of stories and has attracted more than millions of readers from over 200 countries.

Abu Bakarr Jalloh has worked with multiple brands, businesses, and organizations as a digital media strategist and public relations expert. He has worked with the African Genius Awards based in South Africa, BuildRSA, OWL, and Plus94 Research. In 2024, he helped organize the African Genius Awards in Sierra Leone for the first time ever.

Today, Abu Bakarr Jalloh remains at the forefront of African media, tirelessly working to shift global perceptions of Africa by highlighting its dynamic, inspiring narratives.
