Meet Abdul Sigismond Sesay: Founder and CEO of JuSAS Global Conglomerate

Abdul Sigismond Sesay is a Sierra Leonean businessman, philanthropist, legal luminary, social commentator, and human rights activist, producer, entertainment promoter, researcher, and influencer. Sigismond Sesay is the founder and CEO of JuSAS Global Conglomerate, an international registered multifaceted venture developed to capture numerous businesses in car dealership and rentals, shipping (ocean freight), containerization, clearing and forwarding services, transportation – moving and delivery, multimedia, and entertainment. Under JuSAS Global Conglomerate, he has JuSAS Global Clearing and Forwarding Agency – an agency that provides logistics services, importation and exportation of goods and services in and outside of Sierra Leone, and containerization (container shipping and offloading).

Born in the capital of Sierra Leone, Freetown, Sigismond came from an extended traditional ruling family. He is the eldest son of the late Captain (Rtd.) Julius Sigismond Abdul Sesay, a former employee of the Bank of Sierra Leone and also a former military captain at the Sierra Leone Armed Forces. His mother, Late Mrs. Mariama Magdalene Sesay is a native of Manorwa, Pejeh Bongre, Kailahun District. Abdul Sigismond Sesay has a son named Julius Kismah Sesay.

HIS ROLE IN THE SIERRA LEONE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

Sigismond Sesay is a household name in Sierra Leone Entertainment Industry. As a writer, actor, and producer, he has been featured in several theater productions and movies in Sierra Leone. He has produced award-winning movies and has starred in some. In 2019, he produced a National Entertainment nominated film ‘Mind Games’ and also SLAAM’s Best Movie. He has starred in movies like ‘Diamond Wahala’, ‘Mobile Lovaz’, ‘Dagadi’, ‘Nor Touch’ a Covid-19 sitcom, etc. As an entertainment promoter, he has financially supported and organized musical concerts in the United States for one of Sierra Leone’s biggest hitmakers Shady Baby and Heaven Jay. He has also signed local artists in Sierra Leone like Raj, Lady Mattia, and Boss king. He has also morally supported big events in Sierra Leone like the Ecofest and others.

He also has JuSAS Multimedia that provides services like quality video production, photography, graphic design, quality audio production, and performing art. Also on the list of businesses is JM Photo Studio that covers services like weddings, birthdays, fashion, indoor and outdoor sessions, corporate events, and many more.

PHILANTHROPY WORK

Sigismond Sesay is also the Executive Director of the Mayefeh Indigenous Development Initiative Foundation, a non-governmental organization established for the indigenes of the Tonko Limba Chiefdom, Kambia District, Northern Sierra Leone. The foundation was established to address existing challenges faced by the locals of the chiefdom and give back to humanity and society thereby restoring the lost hopes, dreams, and aspirations with sustainable reform programs to meet both the felt and induce needs of the Mayafeh people and its environs.

EARLY EDUCATION

Sigismond Sesay started his early education at the United Methodist Church Primary School where he sat to the National Primary School Examination (NPSE). Sigismond passed the NPSE with flying colors and got admitted to one of the oldest boys’ schools in Sierra Leone, the Methodist Boys’ High School where he did his junior and senior secondary school education before entering the university.

UNIVERSITY EDUCATION

Sigismond Sesay got admitted to one of the oldest universities in the world and the oldest in Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. At Fourah Bay College, he graduated with a Diploma in Cultural Studies (African Studies), Bachelor of Arts in Linguistic and Politics, and Bachelor of Laws with Honours. At Fourah Bay College, Sigismond was a key and influential player in student politics. During his time at the university, he’d challenged the issues of national concern and focused his advocacy geared towards maximizing students’ welfare, promoting democracy and Human Rights, and good governance.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Away from home, Sigismond has earned himself several academic qualifications and leadership qualifications from top universities and schools in the United States and others. In 2020, he completed a program in “Entrepreneurship In Emerging Economies” from Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America. In 2019, he completed Corporate Law and International Business Transactions from Moritz School of Law, Ohio State University, United States of America. He is also a participant in the American Law Program. Sigismond continued to add to his knowledge by completing a program in “Introduction to Peace Building Course on Conflict Prevention, Management, Resolution and Transformation, and Post Conflict Reconciliation” from the United States Institute of Peace, Washington D.C. He is currently an LLM candidate in “Concentration in Human Rights and The Global Economy” with Northeastern University School of Law, Boston, Massachusetts. Abdul Sigismond Sesay has already completed 12 credit hours of the aforementioned course program. The said course has triggered more interest in topical issues such as Refugee and Disability, Community Economic Development, Reproductive and Sexual Rights & Health, Public Health Advocacy, Sexuality, Gender & the Law, Peace and Human Rights and The Global Economy, Social Welfare, Environmental awareness, Poverty Alleviation, Domestic Violence, Civil Rights & Restorative Justice, etc.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Before he relocated to the United States of America, Sigismond Sesay has worked with several organizations in Sierra Leone; some voluntarily, some not. Sigismond was an active member of Auradicals Foundation for Democracy and Human Rights Sierra Leone to augment the government’s efforts in developing the country after the long-decade bloody civil war which left tens of thousands dead. The foundation’s main goal was to stand against social injustice in all forms. In continuation of his service to his country, Sigismond Sesay worked as a Paralegal/Associate of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces in the Legal Directorate, Ministry of Defense. He was tasked with Administrative functions for military and civilian personnel, to review and analyze complex documents and cases followed by timely production of legal advice within the Sierra Leone Armed Forces. He also worked with Sovie’s International Training Recruiting and Contracting Company to mobilize and manage the work resources, facilitate recruitment and retention of the required numbers and types of well-motivated, trained and developed associates to meet the demands of clients. He worked with the Center for Local Government Decentralization and the Environment (GLOGADE) as a Legal Researcher to review a wide range of civil and criminal related cases and mining policy and also worked with Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) as an Enumerator on broad-based national research, investigation, survey and data collection on poverty and political awareness of the day to day running of the government.

ACHIEVEMENTS

In 2014, he was one of the Nine Youth Ambassadors for Hunger, Nutrition, and Climate Justice. In 2014, after serving the Auradicals Foundations as Dictator and also tasked the Committee Chairperson by the comradeship home and abroad to lead the Aura Ebola Response of 200 million Leones worth of food and non-food items.
