PLO Lumumba Among The Nominees Of The 2022 African Genius Awards

Popular, renowned and eloquent Kenyan lawyer, Pan African, human rights activist, orator, and public speaker, Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba is among the nominees for the 2022 African Genius Awards in South Africa.

Professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba is an advocate of the High Courts of Kenya and Tanganyika. He’s the Founder of the PLO Lumumba Foundation and a Consultant at Lumumba & Lumumba Advocates. Prof. PLO Lumumba is a Professor of Public Law, a holder of an LLD on the Law of the Sea from the University of Gent, Belgium, LLM degree and LLB degree from the University of Nairobi. He has been trained on Humans Rights at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies University of London, UK, Humanitarian Law at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of the University of Lund, Sweden and on International Humanitarian Law in Geneva, Switzerland. He is an Advocate of the High Courts of Kenya and Tanganyika and a Certified Mediator. He is a former Director of the defunct Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC), (Now Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)). He is the Founding Trustee of the African Institute for Leaders and Leadership (AILL). He currently practices Law with Lumumba and Lumumba Advocates and coordinates activities under the aegis of the PLO Lumumba Foundation to which he is the founder.

The African Genius Awards is one of the biggest Awards in Africa that takes place annually. The awards event is to recognize, appreciate, and celebrate African geniuses whose extraordinary display of brilliance has helped solved pressing issues in their countries and communities.

The first edition of African Genius Awards took place on May 25 this year at the prestigious University of Pretoria, South Africa. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and regulations, the awards were held virtually. Three African geniuses were announced as winners from the dozens of nominations received. These individuals, past and present, in one way or another, have contributed immensely to the development of their countries and communities through activism, business, and literature. These three men (Aliko Dangote, Steve Biko, and Chinua Achebe) awarded by African Genius Awards are amongst the most celebrated and the most popular Africans in Africa and beyond.
