Sierra Leonean Makeup Artist Mary Yei Yongai Breaks Guinness World Record

Sierra Leonean makeup artist, Mary Yei Yongai has officially been awarded the Guinness World Record for the most cosmetic makeovers by an individual in 24 hours (111 makeovers), five months since her first attempt.

A message from Guinness World Records to Mary Yei Yongai reads:

Dear Mary Yongai, we are thrilled to inform you that your application for Most cosmetic makeovers in 24 hours (one artist) has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder!

Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing!

The previous record was set by PAC Professional Artist Cosmetics Martha Tilaar in Jakarta Indonesia in 2005 with a total of 96 cosmetic makeovers.

Mary attempted this record on the 30th of April 2024 at the Bintumani car park in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

According to Mary, her goal is to inspire young makeup artists in Sierra Leone to dream big and believe in themselves.

Sierra Leone has been on the Guinness Book of Records a few times, fewer than many other African countries. For Mary, this was the time to show the world what Sierra Leoneans are capable of doing.
