Sierra Leone’s Mary Yei Yonga Breaks Guinness World Record For Most Cosmetic Makeovers In 24 Hours

Sierra Leonean makeup artist, Mary Yei Yongai has broken a 19-year-old Guinness World Record for the most cosmetic makeovers by an individual in 24 hours.

Mary completed a total of over 100 cosmetics in 24 hours, breaking the previous record held by PAC Professional Artist Cosmetics Martha Tilaar at the Kelapa Gading Mall, Jakarta, Indonesia in 2005 (96 cosmetic makeovers).

Mary started her record attempt on Tuesday at the Bintumani car park in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone has been on the Guinness Book of Records a few times, fewer than many other African countries. For Mary, this is the time to show the world what Sierra Leoneans are capable of doing.

According to Mary, her goal is to inspire young makeup artists in Sierra Leone to dream big and believe in themselves.

Although the momentum she received from her fellow citizens was not encouraging compared to the likes of Hilda Baci, Mary didn’t let that faze her dream of becoming a Guinness World Record holder.

Mary is now awaiting a confirmation from Guinness World Records for her attempt. If lucky, she’d be officially awarded the record for the most cosmetic makeovers in 24 hours by an individual.
