Floyd Mayweather, one of the world’s most famous boxers and the richest in the world, has announced plans to open a boxing academy in Africa in order to help the continent’s undiscovered talents be discovered. Africa has so much skill, the boxing legend said, that he wants the rest of the world to see it.

The boxer promised to get world-class coaches on board to assist find talents at a young age and groom them into world-class boxers, according to the proposal, which he revealed to the public.

“The ultimate plan is to find the next Mayweather. I want to work with kids, I will come over to meet and talk to make sure we are all on the same page, and slowly start building these fighters.”

“There are so many talents in the sports world over there in the United States, and Africa is dominating in the U.S now. There are so many hidden talents, so much skills, so we want the world to see these skills,” he said.

The boxer made these comments on a recent trip to Nigeria, where he met with Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Nigeria’s current minister of transportation and a presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

He added that “we don’t want it to be hidden, like I was able to display my skills and talents to the world, here I am today. I want to build an academy just for the children to grow.”

The key point in his statement was the intention to “give back” to Africa. “We just want to help. It’s all about giving back, helping the youths and the young generation coming up.”
