THEY MEET AGAIN! Sierra Leone to play Nigeria in the AFCON 2023 Qualifiers

They meet again!

The last time Sierra Leone played Nigeria it was raining goals. Sierra Leone pulled one of the greatest comebacks in AFCON history as the small West African nation scored four goals in the second half of the match having conceded four goals in the first half against the Super Eagle of Nigeria

Sierra Leone made their first African Cup of Nations appearance in Cameroon after 26 years of absence. The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone are set to make it two consecutive African Cup of Nations appearances but with a mountain to climb as they’re paired with Nigeria, Guinea Bissau and Sao Tome in the 2023 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Sierra Leone made headlines in their AFCON return in Cameroon even though they failed to make it to the round of 16. Leone Stars of Sierra Leone, seen as underdogs by many football pundits and football loving fans, were a thorn in the flesh against Algeria, Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea in the group stage of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon. Leone Stars had two good games against Algeria and Ivory Coast; with a 0-0 draw against Algeria and coming twice from behind to draw against Ivory Coast.
