Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey is now the highest earner at Arsenal due to the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona on deadline day. Aubameyang was on a weekly wage of £350,000 before the striker moved to Barcelona on a free transfer on deadline day. This means Party who was the club’s second-highest earner and is reportedly on a £220, 000 per week wage has now become the club’s highest earner.

The defensive midfielder was signed from Atletico Madrid for a huge sum of £45 million in the summer of 2020. The 28-year-old is presently in his second season at Arsenal and has made 18 appearances this season so far for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Aubameyang would hope on relaunching his career at Barcelona following a tough last few weeks at Arsenal. He was suspended in December for a disciplinary breach after he allegedly stayed an extra day visiting his mother in France. He was later stripped of the club’s armband, with Arteta announcing that he would be out of the first team for an indefinite period of time.

The Gabonese International was unable to play for Gabon at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 for having tested positive for Covid on the eve of the tournament.  His Transfer to Barcelona, though, gives him the perfect chance to get his career back on track.
