Meet 17-year-old Ojo Jonathan Adewale: The Youngest Chartered Accountant In Africa

There is no limit to the accomplishment of black people around the world.

Ojo Jonathan Adewale is a teenage prodigy and a widely revered young personality.

Jonathan Adewale has embedded his name in the history books after becoming the youngest ever Chartered Accountant in Africa, if not the youngest on earth. Guess what, he is just 17.

Yes! At just 17, Jonathan Adewale was able to make the necessary impression at the examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAN) in Nigeria. The record-breaker from the city of Ibadan has also joined the list of over 3 million global accounting professionals under the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA). Adewale was pronounced the youngest charted accountant at the 69th induction ceremony for new members of ICAN. However, the dazzling Nigerian wonder will have to tarry for another four years before he can be inducted as a member of ICAN.

An act of ICAN states that members of the Institute must attain the age of 21 to be inducted as an associate.

Jonathan Adewale sat to the accounting professionals examinations at the age of 14, while still tending to his secondary school education. Speaking on the remarkable achievement, Adewale said he was motivated by his father who he said was unsuccessful several times in attempting the ICAN examination, before ultimately becoming a chartered accountant.

Jonathan Adewale was duly awarded a full scholarship by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria to pursue his dream to acquire a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with First Class honors at Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria.
