Sierra Leone’s 20-year-old Momoh Kamara nominated for CAF Men’s Young Player of the Year award

Sierra Leone’s rising football sensation, Momoh Kamara, has earned a prestigious nomination for the CAF Men’s Young Player of the Year award 2025.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for Minnesota United in the United States, has been recognized among Africa’s brightest emerging talents.

His nomination places him alongside some of the continent’s most promising young stars, highlighting his growing influence and exceptional performances on the pitch.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the list of nominees as part of its annual awards celebrating excellence in African football.

The Young Player category features future stars who have shown outstanding skill, consistency, and potential both domestically and internationally.

This year’s lineup includes standout names such as Burkina Faso’s Asharaf Tapsoba (Real du Faso) and Morocco’s Abdellah Ouazane (Ajax) — both regarded as leading contenders.

South Africa’s rising prospects Mbekezeli Mbokazi (Orlando Pirates) and Tylon Smith (Queens Park Rangers) also feature prominently.

Full list of nominees:

Asharaf Tapsoba (Burkina Faso / Real du Faso)

Alynho Haidara (Côte d’Ivoire / Mainz 05 Jacqueville)

Noah Sadiki (DR Congo / Sunderland)

Abdellah Ouazane (Morocco / Ajax)
