Joy Gborie is a Sierra Leonean photographer, girls’ rights advocate, and media personality who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Interviewing Marathon.
She hopes to conduct a continuous interview for 168 hours.
The longest interviewing marathon at the moment is 55 hours and 24 seconds. It was achieved by a Nigerian, Chizoba Clara Kronborg, in Marbella, Spain, from the 8th to the 10th of March 2024.
Joy Gborie hopes to surpass that record by aiming for a full week (168 hours). In what would be a massive milestone, Sierra Leoneans have their eyes on the attempt. The theme for the event is “ALL HANDS ON DECK.”
The theme speaks to the collective efforts Joy is anticipating in order to make her dream a reality.
The longest interviewing marathon will seek to celebrate positive Sierra Leonean stories and life-changing narratives.
The event will open up an opportunity for individuals from all walks of life to share their experiences and perspectives.
“It is not just about breaking a record. It is also about spotlighting the depth and diversities of human potential in Sierra Leone and beyond,” Gborie explained.
The attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest interviewing marathon will run from the 14th to the 20th of April.
Sierra Leone’s most recent Guinness World Record was achieved by Mary Yei Yongai, who holds the record for the most facial makeovers in 24 hours. Joy Gborie hopes to be the latest achiever.
