The Sierra Leone Anti-Corruption Commission, in collaboration with the Center for Accountability and the Rule of Law, commemorated the International Anti-Corruption Day and launching of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2024-2025.
The commemoration event brought together representatives from the legal sector, civil society, the media, the presidency, and the general public to observe the ceremony and also be privy to the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS).
The theme for this year’s program is: Using Innovation and Technology to Control Corruption.
Speaking at the launching and the ceremony, the Anti Corruption boss Francis Ben Kaifala thanked everyone present for their cooperation with the commission.
Francis expressed delight to his team, appreciating them for all the collaborative work in ensuring that corruption is curtailed in the country.
He mentioned that the commission’s wish and mandate is to make sure corrupt citizens do not enjoy the spoils of their loot and sanitize the system.
Francis also mentioned that the president, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, has been quite supportive of his work.
The launching of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) was undertaken.
NACS is a framework instrument of the commission designed to combat corruption, especially in the Public Service, and maintain honesty across all facets of the society.
The strategy will be implemented from 2025 to 2028.
Speaking about its components, Francis stated that they wish to see a collaborative effort between the commission and the judiciary so as to ensure that offenders are swiftly punished.
The curtains of the event were drawn with an even distribution of the contents of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and photo opportunity with key stakeholders.
