The Dibaba Siblings: The Fastest Family In The World

The Dibaba siblings are a prominent Ethiopian family of long-distance runners who have achieved considerable success in track and field events.

They are the only siblings in the history of athletics to hold concurrent world records, and have 4 Olympic Gold Medals, 2 Silvers, and 3 Bronze, along with 15 World Championships.

The most well-known members of the Dibaba family include:

  1. Tirunesh Dibaba: Tirunesh Dibaba is one of the most accomplished long-distance runners in history. She has won multiple Olympic gold medals and World Championships in events like the 10,000 meters. She’s often referred to as the “Baby-Faced Destroyer” for her fierce competitiveness and incredible speed.
  2. Ejegayehu Dibaba: Ejegayehu is Tirunesh Dibaba’s older sister and is also a talented long-distance runner. She has competed in several Olympic and World Championship events, often alongside her sister.
  3. Genzebe Dibaba: Genzebe is the younger sister of Tirunesh and Ejegayehu. She specializes in middle-distance and long-distance running. Genzebe holds several world records in events like the 1500 meters and has been a dominant force in women’s middle-distance running.

All three siblings have made significant contributions to Ethiopian and international athletics, earning numerous medals and records in their respective events.
