76 Years Old Ethiopian Woman Gives Birth To Her First Child

A 76-year-old Ethiopian woman, Embeyte Medhin Hagos, has given birth to her first child after decades of trying to conceive.

Hagos had been trying to conceive for decades without success. According to reports, she pursued in vitro fertilization (IVF) because she deeply desired to experience motherhood despite her old age.

Her decision was also influenced by societal and cultural expectations. In many traditional communities, especially in Ethiopia, motherhood holds significant cultural and social importance.

Women who do not have children often face stigma or feel incomplete, which may have motivated her persistence in trying to conceive.

Additionally, Hagos’ story has been widely compared to biblical narratives, particularly that of Sarah, who gave birth at an old age. This has led some to view her pregnancy as a spiritual or miraculous event.

Ultimately, advancements in reproductive technology, particularly IVF, made it possible for her to fulfill her long-held wish of becoming a mother.
